Frishta Children’s Village

Construction of the first phase of the Frishta Children’s Village – supported by a £2,000 ERSF grant – began in December last year, with the building of four family homes each of which will house 12 orphaned or ‘street’ children.

While the construction work continues, Frishta opened a pilot children’s home in a rented 4-bed flat in dera Bassi, to comfortably care for six to nine children – as well as providing operational experience before moving the children to the purpose-built site.

Frishta has also provided its first free medical camp to the children and residents of Mukandpur, near Dera Bassi, Punjab with the charity’s staff plus six volunteer doctors and nurses. The whole community turned out and more than 200 children, youths and adults were treated.
