Integrated Rural Development Centre

A £5,000 grant from ERSF to the Integrated Rural Development Centre has been spent on a livelihood project for deprived poor women and malnourished children.

The money has help pay for Early Learning Centres in four target villages – with 30 malnourished children in each centre – for enhancing skils, knowledge and health of children in the project area.

Director of IRDC, S Pitchairaj, said: “We started Early Learning Centres for poor malnourished children, aged between two and five years, in our four  target villages (Solagampatty, Nathamadipatty, Prrichuvanniampaty  and Uriyampatty) in Gandharvakottai Block of Pudukottai District in Tamilnadu, India.

“The women and children are living in miserable bad health condition with malnourished, low weight, disease prone and anemic children without any facility for education or health care.

“Our child centric and child friendly centres enabled the children to grow physically and intellectually by our play way method of education and health care. We could see the changes and differences of the children after entering in our ELC.”
