Jessie May

A £15,000 ERSF grant to Jessie May is helping children with a terminal illness and their families, through the provision of specialist nursing care and educational support in Bristol, north Somerset and south Gloucestershire.

The money has paid for two families, each with a child with a terminal illness, to receive specially trained nursing visits incorporating play, learning and stimulation within their own home for a year. Money left over has provided eight educational support visits for other Jessie May families.

“Jessie May has been providing respite care to children with a terminal illness for over 16 years,” explained Chairman of Trustees James Short. “This service is free, and is not provided by the NHS or the local council.

“More and more families are looking for our support. We would not have been able to help so many children and their families in 2011/12 without your support.”
