The Big Issue

An England Homeless World Cup squad was able to compete in the 2008 homeless world cup held in Melbourne, Australia, thanks to a £20,000 grant from ERSF.

The money paid for flights, accommodation and food. “People often think that it is only about the eight players who compete in the tournament,” said a Big Issue spokesman, “but for the England Homeless World Cup 2009 selection process there was initially 294 men and women attending the six regional trials.

“Without the grant, it would have been extremely difficult (if not impossible) to continue delivering this fantastic project.”
