Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP)

A £25,000 grant to WSUP was used to help co-finance the £193,000 development phase of the WSUP Dhaka project which demonstrates improvements in water supply, sanittaion and hygiene services to low income communities people in Mirpur area of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This was achieved through building capacity of Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority and the Dhaka City Corporation to supply the urban poor in a way that can be sustained and scaled up.

The ERSF grant was utilised for the capacity buidling of DWASA and DCC and formed a critical part of the overall project strategy.

At the community level, the project has been successful in providing sanitation access to nearly 200 people through community toilets and safe water access to nearly 1,000 people through community water points.
