Wells for India

Wells for India Community Based Water and Livelihood Enhancement Project in the Wakal River Basin received a £13,000 boost from ERSF.

Since the project began in December 2007, the lives of villagers involved have started to change significantly. Access to water contributes to each of the Millennium Development Goals. It can also enhance a wide range of resources, both tangible and intangible.

The project is developing the food production and livelihood generation capacity of village populations, setting them on a sustained path of economic security and decreased vulnerability and dependence. It is improving people’s health; helping them to produce more abundant and better quality crops; enabling children to go to school; and saving time for women, enabling them to take part in community life.
