Vocational training for 80 young people, aged 14 to 20 who were either unemployed or being exploited by landowners, was made possible with a £19,550 grant from ERSF to YOUTH ASSIST.

The enthusiasm, commitment and demand from communities for this type of project far exceeded YOUTH ASSIST’s expectations. They have learnt the importance of involving young people in the development of the project as this in itself is an excellent way to build confidence and skills.

“The vocational training is a natural follow on from our work in helping children that are at risk of flling into crime, or getting children that are in bonded labour back to school,” said a YOUTH ASSIST spokesman. “It is part of our holistic approach to supporting the whole community.”
