World Burns Jamboree

Under-privileged young burns survivors from around the world were able to attend the World Burns Jamboree thanks to a £16,000 grant from ERSF.

The children were from the poorest areas within our societies and could never have afforded to attend without the funding. The costs involved were for their accommodation, food, activities and events whilst staying in the UK.

Camp Director David Webster said: “Treated as outcasts within their own communities, this work helps them to understand their lives are worth so much more. One thing that will stay in my memory from this camp is a young girl from one of the South African townships who was in tears of happiness over a Magnum ice-cream – something she said that she could only dream of having. That one moment alone made the two years of planning worthwhile.”
