World Zoroastrian Organisation treble

Three ERSF grants totalling £40,000 have been put towards education, housing and microcredit projects run by the World Zoroastrian Organisation.

The contribution has made a significant impact in providing uplift to deprived sections of the community through education, employment and low cost homes.

WZO manages two senior citizens homes which are greatly subsidised, food distribution to the poor, medical aid and relief from poverty. The ERSF Academic Scholarship grants started in 2008 have been an outstanding success, supporting young Zoroastrians with their higher education.

“As regards the replacement cotages for the rural agrarians,” explained WZO President Sammy Bhiwandiwalla, “this project is receiving attention from other quarters and in the 2010 programme in total 17 cottages were planned for replacement.

“The Micro credit scheme has been in operation for some time, providing free loans to deserving candidates. The rate of default is less than 10%.”
